Centre for Fortean Zoology to Investigate Yowie Attack?

Dean Harrison talks about his terrifying yowie encounter
http://www.youtube.com/v/rJvTkteJUOA
When I first saw this I thought that the Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) was finally going
to investigate Dean Harrison’s incredible claim to have been attacked and “thrown threw (sic) the air 12ft” by a 7ft Yowie. It would
be interesting to see how an independent investigation is carried out and whether they could possibly reach a different conclusion
than mine – namely, that the incident was a hoax fabricated by Harrison himself.
Firstly, the video is less of an interview and more
of a performance. The slick MTV-style camerawork is certainly impressive as is Harrison – a classic Aussie storyteller in full flight.
I have to admit that if I didn’t know a thing about the actual evidence of this case and of the personalities involved I’d think that
this was an excellent testimony for the existence of Bigfoot in Australia! Looks can be deceptive, though (especially within cryptozoology),
and a hoax in pretty wrapping is still just a hoax.
Secondly, there is actually no indication that CFZ are going to investigate
Harrison’s claim. The interview/performance was just put out there with no further information or analysis. Inviting readers to make
up one’s own mind is a noble sentiment only so long as all the relevant information is made available. There is absolutely nothing.
Thirdly,
the maker of this interview/performance, Mike Williams, is in no position to investigate Harrison’s claims anyway. Williams and Harrison
more than crypto-colleagues – they are old friends and while Williams has every right to put out an entertaining fluff-piece featuring
his buddy he is in no position to conduct any sort of independent investigation.
Or could he? My analysis is available for all to
see - Analysis ('Dean Vs Yowie' Enounter - 2009) – but I am just a nobody, a relative newby within the wacky world of amateur
research. Could Williams conduct an actual investigation of his friend– let’s face it, a confirmed Yowie attack would be a ground-breaking
development – and reach a different conclusion to mine (Hoax!)? That would be very interesting to say the least…
I would welcome an investigation by Mike Williams or, indeed, anyone else although some level of independence would be advantageous. A thorough investigation of Harrison’s Yowie Attack claim would not only confirm Hoax but open the lid on an entire subculture of fakery and storytelling. The reverberations and implications would be felt the crypto-world over from the Himalayas to the Pacific North-West and actually go a long way to explaining Bigfooot, Yeti, Yowie, etc.
If not a hoax, don't the good people of Gympie need to be informed of the Hairy Hazard in their bushland?
How can we solve the riddle of Bigfoot if the facts cannot be separated from the fantasy? This next
phase of the search must begin somewhere, sometime. Why not here in Oz? The Yowie offers a perfect case study.
Calling all investigators…
