Brett Green Responds
Yowie / Bigfoot
20-08-2013
I contacted Brett Green on August 15, 2013, regarding Mike William's claims outlined in "Brett Green Serial Hoaxer" and received
the following public response intended for Dean Harrison's Australian Yowie Research website (which has yet to post it):
Please delete all references to the Yowie book on your website immediately and post this apology to all your website readers. The book has been withdrawn and remaining copies disposed of.
I am terribly embarrassed and have withdrawn the book for sale completely - there will be no book 2 because I will not be able to substantiate any depictions due to apparent misinformation originally supplied to me and on what Yowie Tales depicted in some photographs. At no time was there any intention to relay false depictions. The stories however included are definitely accurate.
Although I could not say anything too much until we had confirmation (the reason I have been a little vague with some questions) but it appears I have been taken for a ride with the photographic copies sent back from the Government Department involved that I showed in the book that we understood at the time were correct and I based my reputation on those claims.
We have been investigating the photographs supplied for several months now when we realised something just didn't add up and legal approaches met up with dead ends with the Department concerned. Without my original negatives that were never returned, any claims made must be now dismissed. I realise now that I may have been premature with the release of the book and been made an utter fool and my credibility shot to pieces.
In conclusion, I confirm that the photographic event recorded in the book did take place and photographs were taken. I make this apology in advance so that any researcher can now be at ease. Should there be a chance of recovering my original negatives, I will advise to restore my reputation.

From a subsequent email dated August 19, 2013:
An Apology
It has just come to my attention that several confidential photos under investigation (but kept under "wraps" until the appropriate time) by myself and fellow researchers for approximately 6 months after publishing a book "Yowie Tales" (withdrawn from sale when suspicions became evident) have been made public. The book included a couple of photos at the time were believed to be genuine reproductions plus some good genuine stories. I have just discovered that the entire group of unreleased photographs have been passed on to unauthorised persons without my knowledge and have now resulted in one of the most vicious defamatory personal attacks on anyone's reputation on the internet.
The group of photographs had been given to a Dean Harrison for security reasons (I regarded him as a serious researcher at the time) under a strict guarantee that they would never be made public or shown to anyone until our investigations had been completed. He is the only person (to my knowledge) who has ever had access to the material (I did have a couple of office break-ins of which material and files disappeared). I have asked him to explain how his associates in this attack procured all the photographs but have received no reply.
This personal attack on my reputation coincidentally occurred just as I was leaving on research in the Northern Territory and therefore would not have known anything about it until September and cannot respond until I return. I am terribly embarrassed and hurt that a confidence may have been broken with a supposed claim of an "expose" for a form of glory I expect by persons in trust.
On my return, I will be making a full statement to clear my name and repute those responsible for this despicable act. At no time was there any intention to relay false depictions and am now convinced I was a victim of an elaborate deception of which my intended statement will reveal. It appears I was taken for "a ride" with the photographic copies sent back from the Government Department involved that I showed in the book that we understood at the time were correct and I based my reputation on those claims. At the present time, there will be no book 2 and plans have been shelved due to the apparent misinformation originally supplied to me.
With this interim statement, I wish to apologise to everyone and fellow researchers for this premature action by others because I now realise that I have been mislead. As I said earlier, we have been investigating the photographs supplied for several months now when we realised something just didn't add up and legal approaches met up with dead ends with the Department concerned.
Without my original negatives that were never returned, any claims made must be now dismissed and not referred to by any measure. I realise now that I may have been premature with the release of the book and been made an utter fool and my credibility shot to pieces. I do confirm that the photographic event recorded in the book did take place and photographs were taken. I make this apology in advance so that any researcher can now be at ease. Should there be a chance of recovering my original negatives, I will advise to restore my reputation.

The "raid" occurred on January 23-2012 "...duly demanded entrance entrance to the authors workplace and confiscated all research files, photographs, negatives, CD and DVD records..."
"Under legal advice, the author has been advised not to make any comment on any unreliable or approved Internet source to any person not duly authorised while a current situation is being investigated."
